SARAJEVO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) participated in a walking parade here on Thursday in several cities to mark International Women's Day and the importance of justice and equality.

The walking parade was organized in the capital city, while women in Zenica, a city some 70 km northwest of the capital, attended a gathering where the organizers distributed a letter containing guidelines for the prevention of violence and discrimination.

Women agreed that the International Women's Day should be more than giving a rose as a present.

"We do not want a flower, we want a job, we do not want perfume, we want justice," activists and women shouted while walking down the busiest streets of Sarajevo, sending a strong message that women are united, but face many problems while seeking equality and justice.

The parade organizers pointed out the strong roles women had throughout the history, but also emphasized that the women in BiH who are on the margins of society, do not decide on the important economic and political issues that relate to BiH's future.

Amra Sepic, a 35-year-old mother of two, said she participated in the parade because she wanted to raise awareness on the difficult conditions that women face while looking for job and emphasized that she has not had a job for five years.

"Today is a special day for all women, but in my opinion, women should have better treatment every day of the year," Kljajic told Xinhua, adding it was very important for women to have jobs in order to support their family.
