KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Over a dozen people were killed and more than two dozens injured as security forces warplanes attacked Daftani area in Dasht Archi district of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province on Monday, a local official said on condition of anonymity.

"A meeting was underway in Daftani area of Dasht Archi district today afternoon when aircrafts targeted it killing over a dozen people including some Taliban members and injuring over two dozens of others," the official told Xinhua but refused to be identified, saying authorized officials would speak to media after investigation.

No official was immediately available to make comment.

A similar aerial bombardment on an oil tanker in a militant-held area in Chardara district of the northern Kunduz province in 2009 had killed more than 100 people and injured scores others.
