BERLIN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund reaped their second straight win in the UEFA Champions League Group A, beating Monaco on the second-half goals from Jakub Bruun Larsen, Paco Alcacer and Marco Reus at home on Wednesday.

Monaco staged a powerful first half but were unable to turn their chances into a tangible reward. Hosts Dortmund piled on the pressure after the half-time to smooth the way for their second win.

Both sides staged a lively opening period but as the match progressed Monaco assumed control and worked out clear-cut opportunities through Youri Tielemans, who tested Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Buerki with long-range efforts twice.

The hosts needed some time to gain a foothold into the clash and it was the 33rd minute when Dortmund came to their first promising chance as summer signing Paco Alcacer missed the target inside the box.

The first chance gave Dortmund confidence as it took another six minutes before Monaco's Diego Benaglio had to be on guard to tip Marius Wolf's shot around the right post.

After the restart, Dortmund came out with their guns blazing to break the deadlock with six minutes into the second half as substitute Jakub Bruun Larsen beat Monaco back up custodian Danijel Subasic following Jadon Sancho's build up work.

The hosts should have doubled the lead in the 69th minute but Alcacer wasted a foul play penalty after rattling the bar from the spot. However, the Spaniard was able to make up his mistake as he rounded Subasic to lift the ball into the goal for the 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute.

Dortmund were not done with the scoring whereas Monaco were unable to put up resistance as Bruun Larsen had all time and space to deliver Marco Reus a pinpoint cross to the far post, which allowed the German international to seal the deal in the dying seconds of the game.

With the win, Borussia Dortmund secure the first place in Group A followed by Atletico Madrid, AS Monaco and Club Brugge.
