NEW DELHI, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- A recent survey has found that engineering graduates in India were more employable as compared to management graduates, and employability quotient among females rose to 46 percent from 38 percent last year, while males' employability witnessed a slight increase from 47 percent to 48 percent.

According to the survey, nearly three-fourths of the fresh graduates expected an annual salary of 200,000 Indian Rupees (around 2,900 U.S. dollars), while nearly half of them hoped to get an annual salary of 260,000 Indian Rupees (3,700 U.S. dollars).

The nationwide skills survey also found that demand for those with skills in artificial intelligence saw a robust growth over the past year. The key jobs in terms of hiring potential are artificial intelligence, design analytics, research and development, English daily The Times of India quoted the survey findings.

Titled as "Skill Report 2019", the survey was jointly conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Association of Universities and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Between Jul. 15 and Oct. 30, more than 300,000 students from all the Indian states and union territories were tested and interviewed on the subjects like English language, critical thinking skill, numerical aptitude, domain knowledge and behavioural competence.

The southern state of Andhra Pradesh topped the list of states with the highest employability, followed by eastern state of West Bengal and the country's capital Delhi.
