AMSTERDAM, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- A newly launched pro-European Union (EU) boy band has tried to change the minds of Brexit voters by debuting their song "Britain Come Back," local media reported.

The boy band of five, called Breunion Boys, appealed in their music video released earlier on YouTube "Britain, come back to us, it is not too late to turn around."

"I cannot believe this is the end (oh no); I still feel your love inside me; I still sing your words," the boys pleaded as they sang, danced and writhed on a Dutch beach.

Julia Veldman, an animation artist who launched the band, said she was heartbroken when hearing the British people had voted in a referendum to leave the EU.

She said the Brexit vote was not just calculated but also emotional, and that she planned to take the band on a tour of pubs around Britain to win the hearts of Brexit voters using the power of song. "Responding to those emotions with only facts seems stupid," she said.

The 30-year-old has spent over 13,000 U.S. dollars of her own money on the band, and most of 2018 looking for members who could "represent the EU" before deciding on three Dutch nationals, one Afghan and a Spaniard, according to the CNN.

The boy band has garnered a lot of attention on social media. Some reactions were positive, others negative. "If only they were around two years ago, I'd have voted remain," said one Twitter user.

"Is it April 1st already?" another netizen asked.

Britain is due to leave the EU on March 29, 2019. In the country's 2016 referendum, 17.4 million voters, or 51.9 percent of the votes cast, were in favor of leaving the EU.
