WINDHOEK, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Namibia has launched its first ever teen summit, which will feature young celebrities serving as icons to their peers, the country's Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) said on Monday.

The "Teen Inspirational Summit" aims to engage youth leaders to explore issues relevant to them and propose solutions through dialogue, creative innovation as well as thought-changing actions, the MTC said.

"We deliberately chose the theme, connecting with tomorrow's leaders, because we are recognizing the role that youth play as agents of change and as critical actors in promoting insights towards a better world," MTC Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer Tim Ekandjo told a launching event.

"In doing so we light the path towards their greatness because the future belongs to the youth," he said.

The summit will feature a diverse range of speakers and personalities from the African continent such as a Nigerian comedian, a Namibian champion debater, and motivational speakers.

One talent on the roster for the summit will be six-year-old DJ Arch Junior, who was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world's youngest club DJ at the age of 3. He shot to fame in 2015 through social media, where he became an instant sensation to a worldwide audience, garnering 46 million views, before he emerged victorious at the SA's Got Talent competition. He performs at various functions in South Africa and elsewhere.

The teen summit will start on March 9 in Windhoek.
