PARIS, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tennis players failed in their attempt to secure main draw berths through French Open qualifiers as the remaining three, including talented Wang Xiyu, lost the second round here on Thursday.

Wang, the 2018 US Open girls' singles champion, surrendered a 5-3 lead in the deciding set to fall at 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 to Britain's Katie Swan.

"It's a pity, but it shows that I have many things to work on for improvement," Wang told Xinhua.

In the second consecutive appearance in Grand Slam second-round qualifiers in her senior debut season, the 144th-ranked Wang built a 3-0 lead early on, before her British opponent made the most of precise crosscourt hits to snatch five games in a row to turn things around.

Wang held her serve afterwards, while failing to break Swan, who bagged the first-set victory of 6-4.

Wang made a strong comeback to register a bagel in the following set, and went on to lead the decider 5-3, possessing an opportunity of serving out the match.

But then Wang met great trouble in her serves as she conceded an break in the 11th game due to two double faults. Swan displayed several spectacular shots and won four straight games to secure her qualifying final round spot at 7-5.

"I just went out for every point, but still unable to deal well with some details," Wang commented.

Despite staying in front at 35-22 on winners, Wang also suffered 11 more unforced errors than her opponent.

"I need an all-around improvement, both physically and technically," she added.

Trailing in win on first and second serves, Zhang Kailin bowed out with a 6-4, 6-4 loss to top-seeded Bernarda Pera of the United States.

Xu Shilin was also eliminated by Spain's Aliona Bolsova 6-1, 6-2 in just an hour.

As Peng Shuai, Liu Fangzhou and Lu Jiajing had stopped their quest in the first round, no Chinese players managed to move through women's singles qualifiers, added by the exit of Zhang Ze and Li Zhe in men's part.

A total of 16 male and 12 female qualifiers will come out to take up the main draw spots at Roland Garros after the final day action on Friday.
